mi ripresento in questo forum inquanto ho trovato persone veramente preparate a risolvere i problemi che si erano presentati nel mio pc.
Questa volta scrivo per un problema che si propone nel pc della mia segretaria, in sotanza tutte le mattine prima che possa lavorare a dovere impiega circa un'ora, sembra come si dovesse scaldare,dopo circa un'ora non è che diventi una scheggia ma almeno si lavora, prima di cio' qualsiasi cosa tocchi si pianta ancora di piu'.

Dovresti farci sapere almeno di che PC esattamente si tratta, di quale Sistema Operativo precisamente usa, di quant'è grande l'Hard Disk, di quant'è la dotazione in RAM "fisica", di quale Processore usa, di quant'è gran de la cartella C:/WINDOWS/Fonts (ammesso che usi Windows!), di quana perchentuale dello spazio dell'Hard Disk è ancora "libera", di quale Firewall usa, quale antivirus e quale antispyware "residente"...

Il fatto che la cartella FONTS sia assai leggera, esclude che il rallentamento del caricamento possa addebitarsi a lei...
Il Sistema Operativo in uso (Windows XP Pro SP2) è abbastanza veloce (di suo). L'HD è sufficientemente capiente (spero che il file-system adottato sia l'NTFS, perché col FA32 il Sistema "gira" un pochino meno velocemente [su HD maggiori di 32 Gb]).
Niente da eccepir sull'antivirus (non è che sia molto leggero, ma direi che va bene).
Ti servirebbe un antispyware "residente".
Domanda: Ad-Aware, che versione esattamente è?
Altra domanda: in Spybot, hai forse abilitato il Tea Timer?
Infine: il firewall di Windows non vale un accidente (perché non filtra il "traffico in uscita"). Potresti avere a bordo dei malwares, dunque.
Ti suggerisco di installare un valido firewall.
Non è che il computer sia "all'ultimo grido", ma non dovrebbe andar talmente lento.

Per veder se ci sono ospiti indesiderati a bordo, fai un bel LOG di HijackThis e postalo nella sezione "Virus, sicurezza e privacy" dwel forum di Aiutamici.

Aggiungo un suggerimento "opzionale" (se non t'ispira, ignoralo: è affar tuo), ma che aiuta molto a far funzionar bene i computers dati in uso a qualsivoglia segretaria: esser sempre cortesi con il personale (e non dar MAI -assolutamente mai!- ad altri la colpa di quel che andava pure fatto, ma non abbiamo sorvegliato NOI che fosse fatto [perché il ruolo nostro è proprio questo -ma sempre agendo con grande tatto e gentilezza,- se non sbaglio])...

Concordo anch'io sul fatto che, -non solo con i dipendenti,- la cortesia non è certo "sprecata".

Molto probabile che ci siano delle applicazioni in avvio automatico che rallentano il pc bisognerebbe eliminare quelle che non servono,fare pulizia e scansioni come suggerito dal nostro amico monsee ma se non ho letto male il pc è dotato di soli 256Mb di ram che è una quantità irrisioria,perciò suggerirei di portarla almeno ad 1Gb.

Certo che puoi postare la lista! Ci mancherebbe altro...

O usi uno dei tanti programmi che sono in grado di fornirtela (ad esempio: CCleaner, che può fornir la lista dei programmi in "Avvio") oppure guardi in MsConfig.

Quella di Skype,lo puoi avviare quando serve a meno che non vi serva per lavoro.
Ci sono altre 3 voci ma non le ritengo importanti e visto le poche applicazioni che si aprono all'avvio il problema della lentezza risiede altrove.
Ti consiglio di aggiornare il Java,vedo che ha la versione 1.6.0.3 e siamo alla 1.6.0.13,lo puoi scaricare dalla sezione software di aiutamici.
