Conoscendo maccheronicamente l'Inglese mi sono fatto largo a colpi di traduzioni.
La mia attenzione è caduta su questa parte della descrizione dell'errore.
Symantec ha scritto:#120 The logical drive chain is incompatible
DOS, OS/2, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT require that logical partitions be chained together in ascending order. Some other operating systems do not require this.
Insomma fino a Win 98 (il mio), per Windows le partizioni devono essere 1, 2, 3, 4.
Se un programma gestore delle partizioni (vedi Parted), nato per S.O. che se ne infischiano della cosa (Linux) gli rimescola le carte (1, 2, 4, 3), sbomballa.
Anche qui, avanzando a colpi di Partition Magic e Parted Magic, ho ripristinato la situazione precedente.
Il morale mi è però ridisceso sottoterra quando ho usato i programmi di Parted Magic che controllano i dischi.
Anche qui è tutto in inglese, ma anche senza traduzione quel "Error XXXX occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 1232 hours (51 days + 8 hours)" mi preoccupa,che vuol dire? Che il mio disco ha i giorni contati?
Il disco in questione è il principale, dove sono sia Win 98SE che Xubuntu 8.04 LTS, un Maxtor da 80 Gb.
Il secondo invece, un Hitachi da 2,5 pollici, 5400 giri, 40 Gb che ho prelevato da un portatile defunto, è a postissimo.
La "sentenza" per il Maxtor è la seguente, qualcuno che ne capisce più di me mi sa dire la traduzione di questo dramma scritto in Cino-Arabo-Indiano?
